Porous solids shear factor

Consistent with previous hteratuie (CaimeUa et al. 1988 Hejri et al. 1991), Fig. 2 confirms that xanthan solutions show shear-thinning or pseudoplastic behavior in porous media. The solid curve in Fig. 2 shows that the viscosity data parallels the resistance factor in the shearthinning region. To make this match, shear rates (in s , associated with the viscosity data) were divided by 310 when plotted on the x axis. (This value of 310 was strictly an empirical factor that was needed to make the shear-thinning portions of the curves match.)... [Pg.112]
