The most common polyisocyanate used in urethane sealant production is toluene diisocyanate (TDI). The TDI is usually prereacted to give an isocyanate-terminated prepolymer. Other aromatic polyisocyanates used in sealants include diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) and polymethylene polyphenylene isocyanate (PAPI).
