Polymers Assembled by Monothioether Ligands RSR

In anticipation of the intrinsic luminescence properties of these polymeric materials incorporating polymetallic CuX substructures, we resynthesized the Cul and CuBr adducts with Et2S under similar reaction conditions to study the luminescence properties of these diethyl sulfide compounds. The presence of CU4I4 cubane clusters in the polymer could be easily detected by the very strong [Pg.93]

Because the crystal structure of the CuBr Et2S adduct 2 has not yet been described, we have grown single crystals in form of large colorless blocks from heptane and determined the solid-state structure. It is surprising, that the architecture of the resulting 1D network differs much from that of [(Et2S)3 Cu4(p.3-I)4 ] 1 and consists of centrosymmetric rhomboid Cu dimers [Cu(l) S distances 2.297 (10) and 2.298(9) A, Cu(l)—Cu(l) distance 3.0454(7) A], which are linked to a [Pg.94]
