In addition to the infinite tubes, polycatenanes, and polyrotaxanes, all of which are polymeric complexes, a great number of silver coordination polymers with ID, 2D and 3D framework structures have been reported more recently. Selected examples and their specific topologies of some of these are listed in Table 11.1. Schematic structures of the corresponding organic ligands are shown in Figure 11.23.9,58-75... 

Besides simple rotaxanes and catenanes, a great variety of more complex systems have been synthesized, including branched [n]rotaxanes [26a], [n]rotaxanes bearing dendritic stoppers [26b], catenanes composed by two, three, five, or seven interlocked macrocycles [26c,e], polyrotaxanes and polycatenanes [2-6, 8], catenanes with very special shapes [27], rotocatenanes [28], pretzelanes [29], and knots [4], Some of these compounds are shown in Figure 8. 

Although preparation of cydodextrin catenanes of polymethylene derivatives and polycatenanes has been daimed, no data are furnished [68]. Since 1993, the only catenane example essentially reported has been the in situ formation of a fiself-assembled macrocyle, through Pd(II)(en) complexation of two threads, forms the [2]catenane 14 with -CyD at appropriate concentrations but the [3]rotaxane 15 with the wider y-CyD. Mass spectral characterization has also been provided for both spedes but none has been isolated.

Catenanes are not limited to species involving two macrocycles and several examples of oligomeric and polymeric complexes are known. Polymeric catenanes are termed [n]-polycatenanes, whereby n is the number of rings in the chain although there is no clear point at which the term [n]-catenane ends and [n]-polycatenane begins (Figure 3.33(a)). Type III The metal is part of a polymer chain or network. This type considers homochain or heterochain polymers with covalent bonds to the metal, coordinative bonds between metal ions and a polyfunctional ligand (coordination polymers), Ti-complexes in the main chain with a metal, cofacially stacked polymer metal complexes and different types (polycatenanes, polyrotaxanes, dendrimers with metals) (Figure 3).
