Polyacetal extrusion

Among the more than several uses for polyethers in ordn application is as a binder for extrusion-cast expls (Ref 3), and in a caseless proplht charge where the charge is used as an ammo element (Ref 5). Also, some development work on the use of Polyacetal resins (polyformaldehyde) as a fuel has been done by Singhal T ien y[Pg.816]

There are a variety of different process plant designs used by polyacetal producers [1, 6]. Polyacetal resins are typically compound-extruded with property enhancers (additives) added during extrusion. The extrudate is water-quenched and pelletized. A state-of-the-art process can in-line extrude and injection-mold, using robotics and automation. Otherwise, the pelletized polyacetal is stored. 

All GRTP can be extruded. Processing parameters will vary with resin system, percent glass filler, extrusion equipment, and part design. The suggested processing parameters for polyacetal are presented in Table 4-7.
