Plant resistance to infection

The possible actions of lipoxygenases in plant resistance to infection are summarized in Table 3. For more detailed information as to selected plant species the reader is referred to the recent review of Slusarenko [29]. Despite a large body of evidence for a crucial role of lipoxygenases in this field, for many aspects more work is needed to substantiate and to define more precisely these functions. The detailed clarification of the role of lipoxygenases and their products will offer the possibility of new approaches to plant protection in agriculture and horticulture. [Pg.141]
