The species Planaxis sulcatus, harvested at Heron Island (Australia), yielded five diterpenes with a cembrane carbon skeleton jeunicin, which is one of the first examples of a cembranolide isolated from the gorgonian Eunicea mam-mosa (Weinheimer, Schmitz, and Ciereszko, 1968 Van der Helm et al, 1976 Sanduja et al, 1986a), dihydrosinularin and 11-epi-sinulariolide (Sanduja et al, 1986b), a new non-lactonic cembranolide (Linz et al, 1986), and planaxool, an unusual homocembranolide bearing a hydroperoxide...
