Alkali-soluble and alkali-insoluble polysaccharides from the fruiting bodies of the basidiomycetes Laetiporus sulphureus and Piptoporus betulinus have been examined by X-ray diffraction, u.v. spectroscopy, and chemical methods. The presence of (13)-o -D-glucan, (13)-j3-D-glucan, and chitin was established. Variations in the levels of these polysaccharides were noted in different parts of the fungal structure. [Pg.307]

Piptoporus betulinus (Bull. Fr.) Karst. = Polyporus betulinus Bull.iFr. [Pg.11]

Prod, by Streptococcus mutans, the fungus Piptoporus betulinus, the bracket fungus Laetiporus sulphureus, the basidiomycete Grifola frondosa, the yeast Schizosacchar-omyces pombe and many other bacteria, fungi and yeasts. [Pg.523]
