Phytotoxin from weed pathogens

Thus far, there have been no biochemical/physiological studies showing the effects or modes of action of any of the phytotoxins from weed pathogens on their hosts. Aiso, chemical modification ( ) of the toxins should shed light on the bioactive portion of the molecule. The intrinsic bioiogical activity of these phytotoxins certainly warrants considerable study, since there is potential for them to serve as herbicides or models for herbicides, and because they possess somewhat unexpected biological activities.
