Physical dependence laxative

Dependence occurs when a patient needs a drug to "function normally". Clinically, it is detected when cessation of a drug produces withdrawal symptoms. Dependence can be physical (chronic use of laxatives leads to dependence on laxatives to have a normal bowel movement) or may have a psychological component (Do you HAVE to have your morning cup of coffee before you kick in ). [Pg.11]

We have shownl that the Abe-Toyozawa exponential tall can be obtained analytically from the CPA that it is non-universal, depending in detail on atomic arrangement and nature of the disorder and that it yields an exponential tail only for a Gaussian probability distribution of the disorder. Its physical interpretation is quite simple. In addition to the broad, relatively shallow, potential fluctuations considered by H-L, there are potential fluctuations on the scale of a single site or band which are deep enough to cause localization. Such fluctuations are accurately treated in the CPA. They become Important deeper in the tall, where there is, in principle, a crossover from Halperln-Lax to Abe-Toyozawa. We have obtained the results... [Pg.24]
