Phycomyces blakeslearus

Cerebrosides have been isolated from Phycomyces blakeslearus (3), a fungus often found on animals dung, by extraction of mycelia with acetone and chloroform/methanol mixtures and purified on a silicic acid column, followed by a Florisil column.
