Phosphorus ferro

Potassium ferro-heptanitroso sulphide, KFe4(N0)7S3.H20.—To prepare this salt, Pavel 4 raised a solution of potassium nitrite to boiling, added sodium sulphide, and, finally, with repeated shaking, a solution of ferrous sulphate in small quantities at a time. Upon crystallisation the nitroso derivative separated out m monoclinic crystals which were purified by recrystallisation from warm water and carbon disulphide in succession, and finally dried over phosphorus pentoxide. 

Scheme 2.16 displays the thermal ROP of a number of phosphorous-bridged ferrocenophanes, resulting in the isolation of phosphorus(III)- and (V)-containing polymers 59a-c.115 Reaction of poly(ferrocenylphosphines) 59a-c with elemental sulfur generated poly(ferrocenylphosphine sulfides) 60a-c. Polymers 60a-c could not be directly prepared from thermal ROP of phosphine sulfide-bridged ferrocenophanes due to partial decomposition of the products. However, ferro-cenophane 58a polymerized via anionic ROP and reacted with sulfur.116 The resultant polymers had Mn = 3600-32,000 for monomer-catalyst ratios that were varied from 11 1 to 100 1.

Flame retardant companies have featured strongly in recent merger and acquisition activity. Manufacturers of halogenated FRs have been diversifying by buying smaller companies that produce other types of flame retardant, mainly phosphorus types and metal hydroxides. Great Lakes acquired the process additives division of FMC, which inclnded phosphorus FRs, and seemed some business components for use in its own water treatment business at the same time. The French part of Ferro was bought by Albemarle, which now makes PyroChek FRs. Albemarle pmchased Martinswerk, makers of ATH.
