In all cases, however, the extent of non-linearity is much smaller than the case of photochemically induced phase transition in LC. The difference between LC and other molecular aggregates seems to be lie in the fact that phase transitions in LC are best defined thermodynamic changes among phase changes in liquid or quasi-solid systems.
