Phagocytosis opsonin-dependent

The extent to which phagocytosis occurs is markedly dependent on the physicochemical prt rties of the fat emulsion droplets such as size, charge, and surface hydrt hobicity (20). The absorption of fat emulsions is therefore also of importance because by a blockade of the RES (whether this occurs due to saturation of the phagocyting cells or by exhaustion of the opsonin supply in the blood) the immune system is weakened.
