Peroxymonophosphoric acid

Peroxyphosphtnic Acids. Two are known—peroxymonophosphoric acid, H00P(0)(0H)2, prepared by treatment of P4Oic with hydrogen peroxide. and peroxydiphosphoric acid, (H0)2(0)P00P(0j (OH)2. prepared from metaphosphoric acid and peroxide or by electrolysis of an alkali hydrogen phosphate solution (cf. preparation of peroxydisulfunc acid). They and their salts are strong oxidants. 

Peroxymonophosphoric acid has also been used for Baeyer-Villiger oxidation. Acetophenones are reported to be converted to aryl acetates at higher rates and in better yields when this reagent is used in preference to peracetic or perbenzoic acid.276... 

Peroxysulfuric acid, PBA and MPPA, common reagents of the past, appear less frequently in the current literature. Basic 30% hydrogen peroxide or r-butylhydroperoxide have special utility for oxidation of cyclobutanones and strained, bridged cycloalkanones to lactones. Basic 3- % hydrogen peroxide is used in the Dakin oxidation of aryl aldehydes to phenols, while peroxymonophosphoric acid oxidizes aryl ketones to phenolic acetates. ...

By the action of peroxymonophosphoric acid in acetone on excess of mesitylene (1,3,5-trimethyibenzene) diluted in acetone at 25°C during 4 hours, mesitol resulted in 74% yield (ref. 11).
