It has been a cardinal principle of our upbringing that we must never believe things simply because we want them to be true. But how are we to apply that principle to cases where our wanting-them-to-be-true is essentially a matter of the satisfaction of reason  

The H2O2 solution is highly corrosive. Avoid skin contact. Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.
