Perbromic acid esters

Pentyl iodide added dropwise with stirring to a partial suspension of Ag-triflate in benzene, and stirred 18 hrs. pentyl triflate. Y 82%. - Similarly with Ag-perchlorate pentyl perchlorate. Y 86% by nmr analysis of the benzene soln. -Rearrangements can be avoided by using benzene as medium. F. e. s. C. D. Beard and K. Baum, J. Org. Chem. 39, 3875 (1974) perbromic acid esters cf. Am.
