Peptides staining with known sequences

Among the cells in A. suum that were specifically stained, there are many examples of neurons showing co-localization of different peptide-immunoreactivity in the same cell (184). For example, a pair of identified neurons called the RIG neurons contained six different immunoreactivities. Whether some, or perhaps all, of the peptide-im-munoreactivities are due to coexistence of multiple epitopes on the same molecule, or whether they represent the expression of the products of several neuropeptide-encoding genes in the same cell, will not be clear until the peptide sequences are known so that their cross reactivity with these antisera can be directly tested. [Pg.275]
