Pentagalloyl glucose

The tannic acid should be low mol wt. Mallinckrodt 8835 tannic acid is predominately a mixture of tetra- and pentagalloyl glucose and should be used for making gold sols. This tannic acid is available from suppliers of electron microscopic supplies.

The rest of the tannin was found to contain 6.6 per cent of the positional isomers castalin and vescalin (H) [4, 5], 6 per cent of gallic acid, and 3 per cent of pentagalloyl glucose monomer.
