The only other compound known containing five Bi—C bonds is dicyanotriphenyl-bismuthorane which is obtained from dichlorotriphenylbismuthorane and aqueous potassium cyanide. The compound is described as a white solid for which on the basis of detailed IR and Raman studies a trigonal-bipyramidal structure with axial cyano groups is proposal188).
