Above Louis Pauwels, the Freneh writer, photographed in 1974. Twenty-one years earlier Pauwels had a strange eneounter with a mysterious alchemist in a Parisian cafe. The alchemist, who seemed to belong to another age, implied that Fuleanelli was not dead, as his student, Eugene Canseliet, apparently suggested in his preface to Fulcanelli s The Mystery of the Cathedrals. Pauwels came to believe that the alchemist he had met was Fuleanelli himself.
