3 Pattern Control of Gels with Varying Curvatures 

The symbols are selected, which maximize the performance function. The combination of periods, length of the gel and the symbols for each letter is summarized in Table 7.2. 

Timing for switching was converted from time to space in order to apply the simulation results to experiments. The polarity of the electric field was switched when the tip of the gel reached the same orientation of reversing period.
