Patent term expansion

Other expansions of FDA s authority include the Dmg Price Competition and Patent Term Restoration Act of 1984, commonly known as the 1984 Amendments or the Waxman-Hatch Act, which was passed to attain quicker marketing of safe, effective, and less expensive generic dmgs and the Safe Medical Device Amendments of 1990, which was passed to correct perceived weaknesses in the implementation of the 1976 Device Amendments. Congress further expanded FDA authority over nutrition labeling and health and nutrient content claims on food labels with the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990. 

Dry classification equipment uses a gas stream to convey the solids. The gas used most oflen is air, and for that reason the term air classifiers is often used to describe this type of equipment (see Fig. 4.10). Air classifiers evolved from two sources, the original simple expansion chamber and the Mumford and Moodie separator, patented in 1885. 

Further inroads of highly crosslinked UHMWPE into U.S. population of THA patients are expected to occur at a much slower rate than was observed in the past 5 years. Restricted availability because of patent licenses, surgeon conservatism, and emerging alternative technologies are all expected to substantially curtail future expansion of highly crosslinked UHMWPE in orthopedics, at least within the short term for THA.
