Paranatal treatment

This fact explains the virtually negative results in the experiments of Rosenthal and Baer (1963) and the negative results of Schimpf and Filipp (1965) in their attempts to obtain immunotolerance (or allergotolerance) in adult guinea pigs, by a paranatal treatment with an allergen such as DNCB (see p. 68). 

In opposition, Schimpf and Filip (1965) were not able to succeed in inducing an immunotolerance (allergo-tolerance) in the same guinea pigs (now adult) by a paranatal treatment consisting of epicutaneous applications of DNCB.
