Using nickel(O), generated from nickel(II) chloride with diisobutylaluminum hydride, as catalyst, cyanotrimethylsilane underwent addition to l-methylene-2-phenylcyclopropanes to give 2-phenyl-l-(trimethylsilylmethyl)cyclopropane-l-carbonitriIes 1 in poor yield.
