P-Methoxybenzyloxymethyl ether

Promise rather than practice is the criterion for including the p-methoxybenzyl-oxymethyl ether. It is not often used but recently it, and its close relatives, proved their worth in a number of complex natural product syntheses. The p-methoxybenzyloxymethyl ether was designed specifically to exploit the oxidative lability of the p-methoxybenzyl ether group (see section 4.3.4).514 It is also easier to introduce than the p-methoxybenzyl ether.
