P-Anisidine

The diazonium salts precursors can be aniline, o- and p-toluidine, o-and p-anisidine, o- and p-phenetidine. or 3-naphthy]amine. The resulting formazans are crystalline and inlensel> colored. They are soluble in organic solvents, giving a red-violet coloration that darkens to blue. Dehydrogeneration gives the corresponding tetrazolium salts, which are isolated as perbromides (Scheme 51. Table X-13). [Pg.255]

This group has been used extensively in /3-lactam syntheses, where it is used to introduce the nitrogen as p-anisidine. [Pg.400]

In long-wavelength UV light (2 = 365 nm) carbohydrates, e.g. glucose, fructose and lactose, yield pale blue fluorescent derivatives on a weakly fluorescent background. In situ quantitation can be performed at = 365 nm and 2fi = 546 nm (monochromatic filter M 546) [19]. Further differentiation can be achieved by spraying afterwards with p-anisidine-phosphoric acid reagent [8]. [Pg.278]

NOL-based systems for addition of (substituted) anilines to meso epoxides. Hou found that a ytterbium-BI NO L complex catalyzed desymmetrization of cyclohexene oxide in up to 80% ee [15], Shibasaki demonstrated that a praseodymium-BINOL complex could promote addition of p-anisidine to several epoxides in moderate yields with modest enantioselectivities (Scheme 7.7) [16]. [Pg.234]

Bartoli recently discovered that by switching from azide to p-anisidine as nucleophile, the ARO of racemic trans- 3-substituted styrene oxides could be catalyzed by the (salen)Cr-Cl complex 2 with complete regioselectivity and moderate selectivity factors (Scheme 7.36) [14]. The ability to access anti-P-amino alcohols nicely complements the existing methods for the preparation of syn-aryl isoserines and related compounds [67] by asymmetric oxidation of trans-cinnamate derivatives [68]. [Pg.252]

One disadvantage of the ARO reactions with azide, p-anisidine, and phthalimide described above is that each product requires further manipulation (reduction,... [Pg.253]

Sodium dodecyl sulfate and hydrogen dodecyl sulfate have been used as catalysts in the denitrosation iV-nitroso-iV-methyl-p-toluenesulfonamide [138]. The kinetics of condensation of benzidine and p-anisidine with p-dimethylamino-benzaldehyde was studied by spectrophotometry in the presence of micelles of sodium dodecyl sulfate, with the result that the surfactant increases the rate of reaction [188]. The kinetics of reversible complexation of Ni(II) and Fe(III) with oxalatopentaaminecobalt(III) has been investigated in aqueous micellar medium of sodium dodecyl sulfate. The reaction occurs exclusively on the micellar surface [189]. Vitamin E reacts rapidly with the peroxidized linoleic acid present in linoleic acid in micellar sodium dodecyl sulfate solutions, whereas no significant reaction occurs in ethanol solution [190]. [Pg.275]

The following examples of reagent sequences, which include the reagent Ammonium monovanadate — p-anisidine described in the second part of the book can also be classified as redox reactions. [Pg.40]
