Oxybis benzenesulfonyl Hydrazide OBSH

OBSH is the second most popular blowing agent for rubber (next to ADC). On a generation of gas per weight basis, OBSH is not as efficient as ADC. However, OBSH starts decomposing into a gas at a lower temperature than ADC. OBSH can thus have a faster decomposition rate than ADC. Sometimes OBSH is used by itself as the only blowing agent in the rubber compound. However, at other times, OBSH is used in [Pg.362]

OBSH is used in the rubber industry as a blowing agent because it has a lower decomposition temperature than ADC. Commonly OBSH is used in combination with ADC in rubber compounds. [Pg.364]

ADC will probably work if a higher decomposition temperature can be tolerated and other compounding changes are made. [Pg.364]

A most widely used decomposable chemical blowing agent is azodicarbonamide. Its decomposition temperature and rate of evolution of gaseous components are greatly influenced by the stabilizers containing zinc. Lead and cadmium are considered moderate activators for, -oxybis benzenesulfonyl hydrazide (OBSH). OBSH can also be used as a blowing agent for PVC foams. [Pg.420]

Sulfonyl hydrazides. Sulfonyl hydrazides have been in use as CBAs longer than any other type. The most important sulfonyl hydrazide is 4,4 -oxybis (benzenesulfonyl hydrazide) (OBSH). OBSH is the preferred CBA for low-temperature applications. It is an ideal choice for the production of LDPE and PVC foamed insulation for wire where it does not interfere with electrical properties. In addition, it is capable... [Pg.262]
