Oxides, acidic and basic

This set of reactions produces two sorts of oxides - acidic and basic. Metal oxides are basic and non-metal oxides are acidic (as discussed in Chapter 6). This means that it may be possible to classify elements by their chemical properties, not just their physical ones. [Pg.214]
