Block copolymers, among the newer creations of modem chemistry, provide one of the more exciting classes of materials in terms of both intellectual stimulation and practical utility. This chapter will be primarily concerned with AB and ABA types of block copolymers, where the A s and B s represent fairly long subchains. The ABABABAB... types with short repeating blocks, exemplified by the segmented polyurethanes, will be treated in Chapter 5.
