Otoba butter, sometimes called American nutmeg butter, American mace butter or otoba wax, is a popular name for the fat expressed from the seeds of Kfyristica otoba. This fat has long been used by Colombian people as a medicine for skin diseases of domestic animals (5). Otobain was isolated from otoba t after hydrolysis with KOH and chromatography on alumina of neutral water insoluble fraction (6). It is still not clear if the activity of otoba fat is due only to otobain. [Pg.89]
