Other Polymers and Their Complexes

We may regard the commercial polymers which have broad technical application separately. The photosensitivity of such materials, as a rule, is caused by impurities and dopants. The main reason for studying their photoelectrical processes is the clearance of the stabilization problems. [Pg.25]

Some types of the polymers were investigated in detail. The photoconductivity of polyethylene with quantum efficiency 10 5-10 10 is caused by impurities, Schottky type contact injection, and hole transport [82,83], The crystallinity increase is accompanied by a photocurrent increase. There is no clear correlation between the chemical structure and the photocurrent. [Pg.25]

Photovoltaic volume effects have been investigated for the ferroelectric polymer-poly vinylidene fluoride [84,85]. The photovoltage was of the order 4 x 104 V for open circuit. The addition of dyes shifts the photosensitivity to the longer wavelength. [Pg.25]

Some research was carried out on biopolymer photoconductivity [14]. The significance of the charge carrier mobility up to 10 4m2 V 1s 1 was pointed out. [Pg.25]

Photovoltaic and photoconductive phenomena for various types of CT complexes between saturated polymers and dopant molecules, heterojunctions between polymers and organic and inorganic photoconductors were also investigated in the last few years [86-92]. The quantum efficiency of the energy conversion of 10-3% was obtained for such systems and output power density of 3 x 102 mV cm-2. The mobilities of the heterogeneous polymer systems with despersed inorganic photoconductors reach the value — 10 3-10-4 m2 V 1s 1. [Pg.26]
