Other Mixed Metal Acetylide Complexes

A variety of acetylide complexes have been reported with mixed early-late transition metal or mid-late transition metal complexes. The synthetic procedures either 

A triangular Ni-Fe acetylide complex [Cp2NiFe2(CO)6(C2Bu)] (341) is obtained when [Cp2Ni2(HC2Bu)] is reacted with [Fe3(CO)i2] in refluxing heptane (Fig. 19).  

A triangular triosmium-platinum cluster complex [Os3Pt(/r-H)(/r4-f/ -C = CPh)(CO)io(PCy3)] (349) has been synthesised by the treatment of the unsaturated [Os3Pt(/r-H)2(CO)io(PCy3)] (348) with [LiC=CPh] followed by protonation. 

X-ray structural analysis reveals a jU4- j -C=CPh ligand about the triosmium framework with a platinum atom coordinated to one of the three osmium atoms in a spiked triangular arrangement (Fig. 22). 

Thermolytic reaction between [(f/-C5H5)Fe(CO)2Cl] and [CuC2Ph] affords a mixed metal complex [( )-C5H5)Fe(CO)2(C2Ph)CuCl]2 (386) (Fig. 28). Complex 386 contains a planar CU2CI2 ring, and each copper atom is symmetrically bonded to a C2 unit of the phenylethynyl group.

Electron density calculations have been carried out on Gp2ScR (R=H, Me, Et, Prn, vinyl, acetylide). Geometry optimizations revealed an agostic interaction for R= Et, whereas Me and Pr are bonded to the metal center without agostic interactions.
