Organometallic tropone derivatives

Some unexpected reactions are observed during the interaction of cyclo-hepta[c]thien-6-one (231) or its 1,3-dibromo derivative and organometallic compounds (74YZ1429) These reactions are halogen-metal interconversion and subsequent dimerization, partial debromination, and simultaneous 1,2- and 1,4-addition of phenyllithium onto tropone 231 to yield tropylium salts 232 and 233, respectively (Scheme 56). 

Variable-temperature 31P NMR spectra for Cp (dppe)Fe-(C=C)2-Fe(dp-pe)Cp gave a value for the barrier to rotation of the two organometallic fragments about the Fe. . . Fe axis.909 Variable-temperature H NMR data gave values for the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for regioisomerisat-ion of 2-methyl- and 2,6-dimethyl-derivatives of tricarbonyl(r 4-tropone)iron.910...
