Organometallic compounds, 1,4-addition vitamin

This class of reaction is manifested especially by (typically five-coordinated) low-spin d cobalt(II) complexes, such as [Co(II)(CN)5]3-, [Co(II)(DMGH)iB] (DMGHi = dimethylglyoxime, B = axial ligand such as pyridine, triphenylphosphine, etc.) and cob(Il)alamin (vitamin Bn ). Important examples include the oxidative addition of organic halides leading to the formation of organometallic compounds by free-radical mechanisms ... [Pg.46]

The reaction of a Co(I) nucleophile with an appropriate alkyl donor is used most frequently for the formation of a Co-C bond, which also can be formed readily by addition of a Co(I) complex to an acetylenic compound or an electron-deficient olefin (5). The nu-cleophilicity of Co(I) in Co(I)(BDHC) is expected to be similar to that in the corrinoid complex, as indicated by their redox potentials. The formation of Co-C a-bond is the attractive criterion for vitamin Bi2 models. Sodium hydroborate (NaBH4) was used for the reduction of Co(III)(CN)2(BDHC) in tetrahydrofuran-water (1 1 or 2 1 v/v). The univalent cobalt complex thus obtained, Co(I)(BDHC), was converted readily to an organometallic derivative in which the axial position of cobalt was alkylated on treatment with an alkyl iodide or bromide. As expected for organo-cobalt derivatives, the resulting alkylated complexes were photolabile (17). [Pg.193]

Another example of ultrasound use is leaching of organic impurities from different kinds of samples. The main analytes of interest are PAHs, which are widespread in soil, sediment, dust, and particulate samples [55]. USE is recommended as a fast, efficient, and direct environmental sample preparation method for determination of PCBs, nitrophenols, pesticides, or polymer additives. Organometallic and biologically active compounds (such as vitamins A, D, and E) present in samples in trace quantities, can be extracted from animal and plant tissues with the aid of ultrasonic wave energy [59]. Table 6.6 presents some typical applications of USE in trace analysis of biological and environmental samples [60]. [Pg.137]
