Ordering Kinetics in Alloys by Residual Resistometry

INVESTIGATION OF ORDERING KINETICS IN ALLOYS BY RESIDUAL RESISTOMETRY [Pg.219]

Institut filr Materialphysik, University of Vienna, Strudlhofgasse 4, A-1090 Vienna, Austria [Pg.219]

Changes in the atomic correlations are enabled by atomic jumps between neighbouring lattice sites. In metals and their substitutional solutions point defects are responsible for these diffusion processes. Ordering kinetics can therefore yield information about properties of the point defects which are involved in the ordering process. [Pg.219]

Although there have been rather early hints at the correlation between changes of resistivity and ordering the fundamental work of Rossiter based on the pseudo-potential formalism was of most importance for experimental research. [Pg.220]

For local deviations from random atomic distribution electrical resistivity is affected just by the diffuse scattering of conduction electrons LRO in addition will contribute to resistivity by superlattice Bragg scattering, thus changing the effective number of conduction electrons. When measuring resistivity at a low and constant temperature no phonon scattering need be considered ar a rather simple formula results  [Pg.220]
