Options Exchange

Futures. Most exchanges trade options on the futures contracts that they trade. These options expire one or two days before the underlying futures do. Some, such as those traded on the Philadelphia Currency Options Exchange, allow cash settlement. This means that when the holders of a futures call exercise it, they are assigned both a long position in the future and the cash value of the difference between the strike price and the futures price. [Pg.139]

Bonds. Exchange-traded options on bonds are invariably written on the bonds futures contracts. One of the most popular exchange-traded options contracts, for example, is the Treasury bond option, which is written on the Treasury futures contract and traded on the Chict o Board of Trade Options Exchange. Options written on actual bonds must be traded in the OTC market. [Pg.139]

Options are traded both on recognized exchanges and over the counter (OTC). Exchange-traded options are standardized plain vanilla contracts OTC options can take on virtually any form. Options traded on an exchange are often written on futures contracts. For example, a gilt option on the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange... [Pg.162]

Recall that the onshore option is flexible and can change production levels (and thus variable costs) to match demand levels between 60,000 and 150,000. In the following analysis, we calculate the expected profits at each node in the decision tree (represented by the corresponding values of D and E) starting in Period 2 and working back to the present (Period 0). With the onshore option, exchange rates do not affect profits in euro because both revenue and costs are in euro. [Pg.162]

Different utility options such as furnaces, gas turbines, and different steam levels can be assessed more easily and with greater confidence knowing the capital cost implications for the heat exchanger network. [Pg.233]

While a superstructure based on the structure in Fig. 16.26 allows for many structural options, it is not comprehensive. Wood, Wilcox, and Grossmanr showed how direct contact heat transfer by mixing at unequal temperatures can be used to decrease the number of units in a heat exchanger network. Floudas, Ciric, and Grossman showed how such features can be included in a heat exchanger network superstructure. Figure 16.27 shows the structure from Fig. 16.26 with possibilities for direct contact heat transfer included. In the... [Pg.395]

The most important feature of editing software is the option to save the structure in standard file formats which contain information about the structure (e,g., Mol-filc. PDB-filc). Most of these file formats arc ASCII text files (which can be viewed in simple text editors) and cover international standardized and normalized specifications of the molecule, such as atom and bond types or connectivities (CT) (see Section 2,4). Thus, with these files, the structure can be exchanged between different programs. Furthermore, they can seiwe as input files to other chemical software, e.g, to calculate 3D structures or molecular properties. [Pg.138]

For constant temperature dynamics where the constant temperature check box in the Molecular Dynamics Options dialog box is checked, the energy will not remain constant but will fluctuate as energy is exchanged with the bath. The temperature, depending on the value set for the relaxation constant, will approach con-stan cy. [Pg.321]

Minimum exhaust-air enthalpy also means minimum temperature. If this caimot be attained by heat exchange within the dryer, preheating the inlet air is an option. The temperature differential guidelines of the feed—effluent interchange apply. [Pg.90]

A newer technology for the manufacture of chromic acid uses ion-exchange (qv) membranes, similar to those used in the production of chlorine and caustic soda from brine (76) (see Alkali and cm ORiNE products Chemicals frombrine Mep rane technology). Sodium dichromate crystals obtained from the carbon dioxide option of Figure 2 are redissolved and sent to the anolyte compartment of the electrolytic ceU. Water is loaded into the catholyte compartment, and the ion-exchange membrane separates the catholyte from the anolyte (see Electrochemical processing). [Pg.138]

Where appropriate, the direct precipitation of hexavalent chromium with barium, and recovery of the Cr(VI) value can be employed (166). Another recycling (qv) option is ion exchange (qv), a technique that works for chromates and Finally, recovery of the chromium as the metal or alloy is... [Pg.142]

A further detail of this study included sensitivity analysis for the area of heat exchangers, discount rate, and fuel cost. The results are listed in Table 3-8. Option 2, the turboexpander scheme, was selected in terms of energy and maintenance savings, as well as enhanced reliability, availability, and safety. [Pg.73]
