A recently developed thin-layer electrophoresis system which employs silanized silica gel with a 1-octanol surface coating as support, and aqueous borate as buffer, has been examined for the separation of mono-, oligo-, and poly-saccharides as well as phenolic compounds and other degradation products from the hydrolythermolysls of biomass. As expected, mobility depended upon the ability to complex... [Pg.254]

Fig. 6. Measurement of the relative amount of ligand bound to each protein in the array. (A) Schematic of on-chip binding assay in which a fluorescently labeled interaction partner binds to the functional, arrayed protein immobilized to the streptavidin-coated surface via the biotinylated BCCP tag. (B) p53 protein function microarray probed with Cy3-labeled GADD45 duplex oligo. Quantification of the signal intensity from each spot allows the effect of polymorphic and functional variation on the DNA binding function of p53 to be determined. Fig. 6. The process of oligo- and polymerisation can occur either on the surface of the wet silica or in the toluene solution. The formation of polylayered coatings was investigated in detail by Gorski et al.,91 reporting on the chemisorption of 3-methylacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane from acetone solutions, containing various amounts of water. [Pg.289]

Immobilization on attachment surface - Work on the use of polyacrylamide gel-immobilized microarrays for nucleic acids has been reported by Zlatanova and Mirzabekov [25]. The use of unmodified oligos to fabricate DNA microarrays where acid-washed slides are coated with epoxy silane before probe deposition has also been reported [26]. [Pg.633]

A composite comprising paper and a conducting polymer can be prepared by impregnation of paper with a solution of a precursor polymer and heat treating the coated paper. The electrically conducting polymer is located on the surface or between the fibers of the paper [885]. Sexithiophene and other oligo(thiophene)s are ideal photochromic materials for efficient and ultrafast incoherent-to-coherent optical converters [886]. [Pg.182]

Figure 20.19. Force normalized by radius measured between two hydrophobized mica surfaces pre-coated with a layer of EHEC as a function of surface separation. The forces were measured in water. The EHEC mean molecular weight was 127.000 g/mol, the degree of substitution was 1.9 for ethyl chains and 0.9 for oligo(ethylene oxide) chains. This gave a cloud point of 34.4°C. The forces measured on approach are represented by ( ) and those measured on separation by ( )(183)... Figure 20.19.
