Of hydrogen iodide to cyclohexene

The occurrence of an Ad 3 mechanism has also been shown in the reaction of hydrogen iodide with cyclohexene in acetic acid Moreover this mechanism seems to apply equally well to the addition of HCl to acetylenic systems ... [Pg.44]

Epoxidation. Italian chemists have found that the epoxidation method of Cornforth and Green (3, 159) when applied to A -cholestene (1) leads to the tram, diaxial diol (2). They reasoned that the epoxide is formed but hydrolyzes ill the acidic medium. They then carried out the reaction in the presence of silver oxide to remove hydrogen iodide and obtained the oxides (3) and (4) in high yield. The reaction was then shown to be applicable to other alkenes (cyclohexene oxiile. 80%). [Pg.340]

Cerveny et al. (69), attempted to apply the Drougard-Decroocq equation (34) to the data obtained in the hydrogenation of cyclohexene and 1-hexene on the catalyst 5% Pt on silica gel in 19 solvents. Since correlation of the reaction rates with the parameters of solvents x, originally obtained for the homogeneous Menschutkin reaction (88) between methyl iodide and tri-propylamine was unsuccessful, an analogous definition was used for the parameters x, which were to characterize the solvent with respect to its effect in heterogeneously catalyzed reactions ... [Pg.356]
