Note added in proof Recently term values of odd-parity Rydberg states of barium 6snp Pj, Po,i,2 and 6snf p3, F2,3,4) have been measured and analysed within the framework of MQDT. Furthermore hyperfine structure data on 6snp Pi and 6sn/ F3 series have been reported and compared to MQDT calculations.
