O-Phenanthroline ligands

It is reasonable to expect that electron transfer will occur at a very high rate when two reactants are relatively close to each other. Reactions (5.3.2) and (5.3.3) are very fast indeed. This can be explained by assuming that the o-phenanthroline ligand is a ligand in which electrons are strongly delocalized (like in a metallic wire resistor).
