Nucleic acids geochemistry

Because these syntheses use UV light, wet/dry cycles, and large amounts of phosphate, they match the geochemistry of the hot springs at Clue 5 better than the deep-sea vents of Clue 3 or 4. Koonin lists some other chemical clues that the conditions at the hot springs may be conducive to forming chains of nucleic acids as well.
