Nucleation, growth, and experimental rate

We noted that the two processes of nucleation and growth would present the same chemical balance, and we can thus allot to each one of them a rate with respect to the created solid B (by choosing the same reference o initial quantity of soUd A) and the total rate will be the sum of the contributions of each process [Pg.338]

However, the amounts of matter produced by nucleation are in general very low compared with those that are produced by the growth, in consequence of the very small sizes of the nuclei, and thus, on the experimental level, we can, very often. [Pg.338]

This approximation does not mean that we neglect the process of nucleation because, as we will observe, it intervenes in an important way to fix the sizes of the zones of growth. [Pg.339]

In the continued study, we assume that nucleation and growth are both processes with separable rates. [Pg.339]
