Note on Initial Conditions

Instead of specifying an initial condition on the capacitor, the initial voltages of nodes can be specified using the parts IC1 and IC2. For the circuit of Section 6.B, we will use the part IC1 to specify the initial condition of the capacitor. Get a part called IC1 and place it in your circuit  [Pg.340]

The default value of the initial condition is 0 V. To change the initial condition, double-click on the text 0. The dialog box below will open  [Pg.340]

Note that the dialog box is changing the attribute Value. Type in the text for the initial condition, 5 in this case  [Pg.340]

Click the OK button to accept the change. The initial condition will be changed in the circuit  [Pg.340]

Note that the value specified is the voltage of the node relative to ground. The part IC2 allows you to specify the initial voltage between two nodes. You can use the IC2 part to specify the initial voltage of a capacitor when the capacitor does not have one of its leads grounded. [Pg.341]
