Nonpiezoelectric Mass Sensors

There are two modes in which cantilevers can function as chemical sensors (Fig. 4.22). These are the static, or bending mode and the dynamic, or resonant mode. [Pg.92]

In the bending mode, the adsorption of material at one surface of the cantilever causes the change of the surface energy (stress) and bending, according to Stoney s law. [Pg.92]
