Chapter 111 of the book gives data on the electrical and magnetic properties of refractory compounds. It should be noted that electrical properties are sensitive to structure and depend substantially on the method of measurement and also on the purity of the specimens. Therefore, a large proportion of the data presented, for example those on electrical conductivity, bear a provisional and tentative character in addition, the degree of reliability is largely determined by the statistical numbers of determinations in the different investigations. It is nevertheless possible to assume that in the course of time the values of the electrical resistance of a number of compounds, at least those having metallic conductivity, will vary immaterially (will decrease somewhat) this of course cannot be said of the nonmetallic compounds which are semiconductors. [Pg.11]
