Nonaqueous Ink Composition

A nonaqueous inkjet ink composition for inkjet printing which is free from clogging has been proposed (3). The composition contains a pigment, a resin, a pigment dispersant, an organic solvent and an aminated alcohol. As resin binders, polyester resins, acrylic resins, and vinyl chloride resins can be used. As organic solvents glycol ethers are used. Suitable compoxmds are shown in Table 5.1. 

The most preferred compoxmds are diethylene glycol mono ethyl ether acetate and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate because

The printed surface after inkjet printing is dried at ordinary temperatures to several himdreds of degrees centigrade, resulting in the formation of a dry film. 

The base material for printing has no particular restriction so long as it will not be deformed or modified in nature under the conditions for drying the printed side. Examples of such base materials include

Nonaqueous ink compositions that contain an organic solvent are quick to dry and cause little bleeding or blurring. Therefore, they have been used in recording on nonabsorbing media such as plastics that do not absorb ink.
