Compound 4 is an air-stable, orange-red, crystalline solid. It is soluble in common organic solvents such as hexane, benzene and dichloromethane. Solutions of 4 in these solvents are stable in air for several days. The IR spectrum of the compound contains the following CO absorptions (hexane) 2090(s), 2065(s), 2028(vs), 2022(m), 1995(w), 1983(w), 1936(w)cm L The crystal structure of 4 has been reported.  [Pg.307]

A 25-mL three-necked round-bottomed flask, is equipped with a magnetic stirring bar and a reflux condenser connected to a nitrogen bubbler. To this is added tridecacarbonyldi-zij-thio-tetraosmium (0.0245 g, 0.020 mmol) and nonane (10 mL). Under nitrogen, the mixture is heated to reflux with stirring for 20 min. The mixture is cooled and the solvent is removed in vacuo. The red residue is crystallized from hexane at 0°C. Yield 0.024 g (100%). [Pg.308]
