Equation 11.11 fits the data of Fig. 11.7A and the value of (/ — ft2) = A/i refers to the difference in the slopes of the two linear portions of the correlation. A similar equation may be written for a Hammett correlation or any other free energy relationship including those for concentration changes (Fig. 11.7B) which might affect k2 but not k.
