Non-ideal solid surfaces

Real solid surfaces never satisfy completely the conditions for the Young equation to be valid, namely chemical homogeneity and perfect smoothness. Several phenomena result from this deviation, most importantly  [Pg.22]

Following Neumann and Good (1972) and Eick et al. (1975), the thermodynamic equations of wetting for rough surfaces and for inhomogeneous surfaces can be developed more conveniently by considering a vertical plate [Pg.22]
